Equator Crossing Certificate - BOAC (1966)

Year: 1966

Format: Certificate

Illustrator: Maurice Laban (1912-1970)

Client: BOAC

Details: Maurice Laban (1912–1970) illustrated a certificate given to passengers in recognition of crossing the equator line.

Such certificates were popular with many airlines and cruise ships around the middle of the 20th century, probably due to the novelty of crossing into different time zones and far flung destinations.

This particular example was awarded to an unnamed recipient in 1966.
