Year: 1963

Format: Leaflet

Illustrator: Guy Nicholls

Client: GPO

Details: This leaflet was created in 1963 for GPO to promote the Post Office ship-shore radio service. The artwork is signed Guy Nicholls - I believe this to be William Guy Nicholls (1925-1988).

Nicholls was born in Farnham, Surrey. He studied at Regent Street Polytechnic and the Chelsea School of Art, becoming an illustrator and graphic designer. Nicholls worked as a director for TDL advertising and design consultancy in London and became a part-time lecturer in graphic design at Ipswich School of Art in the early 1960s.

He was also known as an artist and held exhibitions of his paintings. His work was featured in the German art magazine Gebrauchsgraphik in 1964. Nicholls continued his artistic career with a studio in Suffolk.
