Details: This 1975 Hong Kong festivals first day cover and stamp set was designed by Tao Ho (1936-2019). The stamps commemorate the Tin Hau, Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn festivals.

Tao Ho was an architect, designer, teacher, and writer. Born in Shanghai, Tao Ho and his family emigrated to Hong Kong in 1941. In 1956, he moved to the USA. He studied at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and worked at the Architects Collaborative with Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus school.

After nearly a decade in the US, Ho returned to Hong Kong and began teaching architecture and design as a lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In 1968, Tao Ho founded Taoho Design, Hong Kong’s first native, multidisciplinary design studio. He designed the Bauhinia emblem and the flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Ho retired in 2001 after working for more than four decades.
