Peter Roberson (1907-1989) was born in Oxford. He won a scholarship to Oxford Art School where he specialised in lettering and illumination.

Roberson was employed at the Clarendon Press from 1924, where he drew maps and designed book jackets. After moving to London in 1935, he worked in advertising as an illustrator, poster designer and copywriter. He designed several posters for London Transport between 1948 and 1978.
