Year: 1967

Format: Postage stamp

Illustrator: Wim Bijmoer (1914-2000)

Client: Kinderpostzegels

Details: Many countries have a Children’s Welfare Stamp scheme, where an additional surcharge on stamps is donated to charity.
A successful example is the Dutch Postal Service’s work with the Stichting Kinderpostzegels Nederland (SKN).

Since 1924, they have produced a series of stamps to help disadvantaged children both in and outside the Netherlands. These have been sold door-to-door by Dutch school children since 1948.

This example featuring hedgehogs was part of a set produced in 1967. It was illustrated by Wim Bijmoer (1914-2000) with typography by Piet Cossee (1917-2007).
